How did we come up with this Project ?
During 2011 Diwali, we came up with an idea of doing a light show similar to the Christmas light show. Everything came together in the last minute and we were able to do the entire project in a week's time. The theme for last year was Ganesha. We were able to do the show for two songs, you can see the video of 2011 show in the Videos page.
In 2012 , 'Diwali Lights' expanded at two places. The themes were that of Ganesha and Bala Krishna. We want everyone to celebrate Diwali with the same dedication and fervor as we celebrate it in India.
For the Hindu community, Deepavali (a.k.a Diwali) is one of the most important festival and is celebrated throughout the world. Last year few volunteers of HSS* from Cupertino chapter came up with this idea to celebrate Diwali in an unique way. *(Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS) USA is a voluntary, non-profit, social and cultural organization - http://www.hssus.org)
To create awareness about Hindu dharma among the community and inspire fellow Hindus residing in Bay Area to start similar light shows during Diwali.

- Inspired by the Lights /shows which are set up during Christmas time, the volunteers planned to put a light show specially during Diwali.
- The 2011 project was done in a span of 4 days and the response received was so overwhelming that the show was extended for one more weekend as well. Last year, former Cupertino Mayor – Mr Gilbert Wong had also come and watched the show and interacted with us for more than an hour.
- Last year, we had visitors from as far as Pleasanton, San Ramon. It was appreciated by everyone and specially the Kids and grandparents (who might be on visit here) – Loved it !!
- This year's theme is based on Lord Sri Krishna and also to celebrate Swami Vivekanand's 150th Birth anniversary in 2013 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swami_Vivekananda).
